DERMAPLANING

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive procedure in which a blade is gently moved across dry skin on the face, which removes dead skin and evens out the rough, patchy outer layer. This treatment is painless and can be performed as often as twice per month. In addition to removing the rough outer portion of the dermis, dermaplaning effectively removes unwanted vellus hairs, also known as "peach fuzz." The true purpose of this procedure is exfoliation; the hair removal is simply an added perk. This versatile procedure can be performed in tandem with a range of other services, such as HydraFacials, chemical peels, and more. If you're looking to get the most out of your HydraFacial, ask about adding dermaplaning to your treatment plan.

Ideal Candidates

The HydraFacial system is designed to be effective for women and men of all ages and skin types. The process will be customized to fit your specific goals. Skin concerns that can be treated and improved by a HydraFacial include:

  • Brown or sun spots
  • Chronic or infrequent outbreaks of acne
  • Decreased skin elasticity or firmness
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Large or congested pores
  • Oily skin
  • Rough skin texture
  • Uneven or dull skin tone

Procedure Technique

HydraFacials will be performed in our office in about 30 minutes. The process will begin with a thorough consultation to decide the best options for your facial. After your plan is developed, you may relax in a treatment room as your procedure begins. HydraFacials include three main steps: cleansing and exfoliation, pore extraction and hydration, and, finally, adding nourishment and long-lasting skin protection. These steps are customized to the needs of your skin by selecting the appropriate cleansers, level of exfoliation, moisturizers, serums, and other products. Your HydraFacial can be customized further with another complementary facial treatment available at our office, such as dermaplaning. You could also further enhance your facial by selecting our Deluxe HydraFacial, which is a four-step treatment that includes glycolic and salicylic acid to extract and decongest the pores and ends with an infusion of antioxidants and peptides to address a variety of skin concerns. You could also add brightening boosters to your treatment for ultra radiance.

What to Expect

If needed, you can reapply makeup following your HydraFacial treatment to cover redness before you get back to your day. You will likely notice improvements to your skin right after your procedure with full results developing over the course of several days. To maintain the improvements in your complexion, Dr. Ginger Urbaniak recommends patients to receive these treatments once a month. During your consultation, we can help you schedule future treatments and discuss a home skin care routine to nourish your skin in between HydraFacial sessions.

frequently asked questions

How much does a HydraFacial cost?
The cost for your treatment will depend on your specific treatment plan, as well as any add-ons, like brightening boosters, or if you'd like to receive our Deluxe HydraFacial. We will be able to discuss your costs once your session has been planned. Urbaniak Plastic Surgery is proud to offer patients the chance to join our Diamond Membership program, which offers members exclusive deals and discounts on our most popular nonsurgical procedures, skin care products, and more. Joining the Diamond Membership provides patients with 20% off HydraFacial treatments as well as one free HydraFacial! Ask about our membership program during your one-on-one consultation.

What are the results like?
HydraFacials are usually considered an excellent addition to include in any effective skin care routine. While regular, traditional facials accomplish what they set out to, the HydraFacial takes these benefits to the next level by cleaning out your pores and providing a deeper level of cleansing. These treatments can also help your skin look softer and brighter. Depending on your unique skin concerns, we can include additional elements to your facial to help improve upon the many different types of skin irregularities.

Can I combine this with other treatments?
Many of our patients choose to combine their HydraFacial with a range of other treatments, some of which can be performed during the very same session. This can include facial fillers, wrinkle relaxers (like BOTOX), or even a laser peel for an appointment later on to further enhance your results. Combining any series of these skin rejuvenation treatments can produce stunning outcomes.

How often should I have one?
HydraFacials can be done as often as you think your skin requires the additional nourishment and improvement. Several of our patients schedule their HydraFacials a couple of months apart and supplement with additional nonsurgical skin treatments in between. During your consultation, Dr. Ginger Urbaniak can discuss with you how often you should receive a HydraFacial to maintain your results.

Is it better than a chemical or laser peel?
Any of these treatments are effective and serve different purposes. Chemical peels, laser treatments, and medical-grade facials treat a variety of skin irregularities. You can receive these treatments at different times throughout the year to achieve your fullest results. The HydraFacial, however, can be performed more often and become a more regular part of your skin care routine, whereas other treatments may require more downtime in between sessions.
